Ume: Y-you. Do you really think telling me that will help your case at all? If anything now I have more reason to not cut you a deal.

Valerian: You’ve done the investigation. You should already know, I may be the man behind the curtain, but I’m not the one who pulls the trigger. I assure you, if you want to keep Altair and Provence safe like you claim, you’ll want to know who they are.

Ume: Then tell me, who are they?

Valerian: Does the name Sirius Blossite mean anything to you?

Ume: Sirius… like the Sirius that Altair is supposed to marry tomorrow?

Valerian: You better hurry then.

[door slams]

Valerian: [leans back in chair] That was easier than I thought it would be.

Valerian: You shouldn’t be so hasty to assume you don’t want what I have to offer.

Ume: Please. There’s nothing you can give me that would make worth risking you being out there to hurt Altair and Provence again.

Valerian: Not even if I could give you the person who murdered your mother?

Ume: [choked noise]

Valerian: That got your attention.

Ume: [quiet] My mother was her own murderer. Nice try though.

Valerian: It was just made to look that way.

Ume: Look, even if that’s true. What proof do you have?

Valerian: I paid for it to happen.

Ume: I’m going to be straight with you now, even though I agreed to this meeting, I have absolutely no intention of accepting any bargain you try to make with me.

Valerian: Why are you here then?

Ume: I’m not going to lie. Hearing you beg for mercy is satisfying after everything you put us all through.
