Altair: Just one more thing for now…
Sirius: Anything.
Altair: Why are you telling me all of this?
Sirius: Because you deserve to know the truth.
Sirius: He isn’t the only one close to you involved.
Altair: …you’re talking about Foxglove, aren’t you? There’s no way. Fox was…
Sirius: Foxglove Glade was Valerian Nova’s top guy. There was nothing that boy couldn’t get his hands on.
Altair: …you’re lying. You have to be.
Sirius: Don’t you think it’s a little strange… all of those years being kept away from the world and then suddenly, there he is?
Altair: …
Sirius: You meeting Foxglove wasn’t an accident. It was planned. He was meant to keep you complaisant, be your friend, keep you from doing anything stupid. But that’s not really how things turned out, is it?
Altair: A-and you? Where do you fall in all of this? Another way to keep me, what was it you said? Complaisant? [heavy sigh] You know what? Don’t answer that. I don’t think I want to know. Not now anyway.
Sirius: Here’s a hard truth about the world, Altair: the biggest paychecks don’t always come from the most kosher of places. People will pay a lot of money to keep information out of the wrong hands.. or to obtain information for that matter.
Altair: I-I… what kind of information?
Sirius: That depends. A lot of the time… the easiest way to get rid of evidence is to make it like that evidence disappear.
Altair: A-are… you serious? My dad really deals with that?
Sirius: Yes… that’s the front end business, but that’s only a part of what they do. Most of what happens is more… off the record.
Altair: Whoa. Hold on there. I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to get at here.
Sirius: How much do you know about your father’s company?
Altair: That’s a weird question to ask. I don’t know the details… I just know that they develop operating systems and cybersecurity software.
Altair: There’s nothing we could possibly talk about. I don’t know what that berryhole father of mine has–
Sirius: This has nothing to do with Valerian. Trust me, you’ll want to hear what I have to say.
Altair: Somehow, I find that hard to believe.
Sirius: Ten minutes. That’s all I’m asking for.
Altair: [groans] Fine. I’ll talk, but you have to walk with me. I don’t want my heart rate to drop too much.
Sirius: I think I can manage that.
Altair: Sirius… What the hell?! Can’t you tap on my shoulder like a normal berry?
Sirius: I didn’t mean to frighten you. Sorry.
Altair: Whatever. It doesn’t matter… [sighs] What on earth are you doing here anyway?
Sirius: I want to talk with you.
[muffled screaming]
