Text from Ume:

I’m going to call you. Please answer.

Altair:

I don’t want to talk to you.

Ume:

I wouldn’t be bothering you if it wasn’t important.

Altair:

Why don’t you just tell me here?

Ume:

It’s not the kind of thing you tell someone over text message.

Altair:

Fine. I’ll talk, but just say what you to have to say and then we’re done.

Sirius: [laughs] That’s true, but your mom isn’t here right now, is she? Don’t you trust me?

Provence: Hmmm… let me think about that for a minute.

Sirius: Oof…

Provence: I guess I trust you. Are you going to be here to get me after school?

Sirius: Promise. Right at this spot.

Provence: [hesitates] Do…do… you think you can take me to The Bay after school?

Sirius: That’s a long side trip after a long day. Are you sure you’ll be up to it?

Provence: Yeah… I just… I miss Soliel.. and Halloween. They were the only things good about my last school.. .and if this school is the same… it would just be easier if I had something to look forward to.

Sirius: We can do that. I’ll let your mom know that we’ll be home tomorrow morning. That way you get more time.

Provence: Really?

Sirius: Really.

Provence: You’re the best! Thank you!

Provence: What if they don’t like me?

Sirius: Why wouldn’t they like you?

Provence: None of the kids at my old school liked me very much.

Sirius: That’s their loss. You are the most amazing little girl I have ever met.

Provence: You’re just saying that because if you don’t mom will be mad at you.

Sirius: [chuckles] You’re always the tough one, aren’t you? This is a new school, with new people. That has to be a little scary.

Provence: School’s school, right? I don’t think it will be any different than my last school. People are pretty much the same no matter where you go.

Sirius: That’s… a depressing outlook on life.

Provence: What can I say? I’m a realist.
