Valerian: You should be grateful. Do you know how many people in the world would love to be in your position?

Altair: Are you serious right now? Why would anyone ever want my life? A dog has more freedom than I do.

Valerian: A dog would listen to their master. Now be a good girl and go back inside.

Valerian: You get right back in there this instance young lady or else–

Altair: Or else what? You ’ll keep me locked up in the house? Not let me play with my friends? Newsflash, dad, you’ve already done that my whole life. What more could you possibly take away from me?

Altair: Um, excuse me, no. I won’t just ‘come around’ to the idea of being sold off to marriage.

Valerian: Altair, sit down. We can discuss this all later.

Altair: I don’t think so father. Sirius, I’d like to say it was a pleasure meeting you, but it wasn’t. Now if you excuse me, I’ll be leaving.

Valerian: A company is only as good as it’s image, you know. Nova Corporation is known for being the elite of the elite.

Altair: What exactly are you saying?

Valerian: Altair, you are to marry Sirus.

Altair: Absolutely not. I refuse.

Valerian: This isn’t optional, Altair.

Altair: Not “optional”? Last time I checked woman had the right to marry any berry they wanted. Did you ever stop to think about what I might want?

Valerian: Altair, you’re being unreasonable.

Altair: Unreasonable? Seriously? You drag me out to dinner on my 18th birthday, spring on me that Sirius, a guy I’ve just met, who is at least a decade older than me, is supposed to be my husband?

Valerian: It’s for the good of our company and our family.

Altair: More like good for your bottom line.

Moon Flower: Listen here lady, you’re being unfair. Your father just wants what’s the best for everyone.

Altair: No, he wants what’s best for you two. I wasn’t ever considered as part of the equation.

Valerian: Now that we have our meal, let’s get down to business. Altair, you’re a young woman now–

Altair:  We’re not seriously having the “woohoo talk” right now, are we?

Valerian: Not quite, but as the heiress of our family, you should know it comes with certain responsibilities.

Altair: You’ve been training me to take over the company my whole life father, what more could there possibly be?

Valerian: The company isn’t the only the only responsibility you hold to the family, dear. A family of our family holds certain…expections.

In hindsight, downing my glass of juice might not have been the best way to deal with my displeasure with the situation.
