I love Ume with my whole heart and the ONLY reason I was insulted is because I don’t want him to cheat on either of them. I’ll admit, Aster asking that question was really unfair for him, especially at a time like this, but I think that if he wants to go back after her, he needs to cut things off with Altair first. (btw holy cow do I love your story and writing it’s got me HOOKED)

THANK YOU. I am so glad you like my story and it’s barely functional characters. 

But you are right, it wasn’t fair of Aster. What happened to her wasn’t fair either. She thought she found the guy of her dreams and he came with all this CRAZY EX BAGGAGE. Poor baby.

But I digress, I’ve said it before and I will say it again: UME WOULD NEVER. 

A momentary lapse of judgment where he thinks about it? Maybe. But actually doing the deed? Not on your life buddies.

This is rude Ume. Make a choice and stick with it. You’re a mess

Hold the phone right there fam. 

It’s very clear to me that his feelings through this whole mess are not being considered in these accusations. Have we even tried to look at things from his side? 

Let’s look at how he has been treated recently:

1 –  Altair: It didn’t feel very playful. You know. It never mattered how bad my cooking was, Sirius would always smile and eat it. Do you know why? Because partners support each other. Even on the little things.

Can we say ouch? Hey, current BF, you aren’t as awesome and supportive as my ex-fiance. Why can’t you be more like him? 

2 –  Altair: Newsflash Ume. I still fudging care. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wish that that day would have gone differently.

Yeah? I saved you. I wish I didn’t. Nevermind that the alternative in this scenario is Sirius being free and Ume being dead. There is a baby involved now, so Ume just brushes it off and bottles up his feelings. Because, hey, the baby is more important than how he feels and you should be with the mother of your child, right?

3- When Ume and Aster broke up… it was because Aster gave him an ultimatum. Can we.. .just think for a moment the amount of guilt that Ume was feeling after The Wedding™? This wasn’t a fair position to put him in. He felt like he owed Altair a lot. He still feels like that. So he chose her. 

Does this mean he was right? No. But he knows that. That’s why he stopped himself. But it’s unfair to laugh off all of the horrible things that Altair has and is doing to him and expect him to be a perfect angel. He’s only human. 

I’m so glad someone is defending Ume. Nobody in this gen’s love interest issues is prefect angel. Some Saltair shippers have conveniently forgotten how Sirius was introduced as a major character, and I say this as a Umeir/Saltair shipper.

The thing is, we aren’t in real life either. I try to put all of those flaws into my characters. Even the best couples have problems. You’re also VERY right Nonnie. He also used a lot of sticky methods to win her affection. 

Tbh I feel like if your legacy followed Ume a lot more people wouldn’t give him so much hate… emotions suck people! He’s got a lot of them and he’s going through a lot in such a short amount of time!!! Same thing with Altair!!!

That’s a piping hot cup of tea ☕right there, Nonnie. Most of the people who hate on him hate on him because they ship Saltair.

Ume is actually a pretty damn amazing guy. Sure, he tries too hard to be the hero, and is VERY socially awkward but he means well. Since Altair is the founder it’s easier to side with her… But let’s be honest here, she has done a lot more to warrant grief than he has.

I like how REAL Ume and Altair feel. Like, sometimes you go too far with a joke, and change is different for everyone. They both just feel like real people and I really love it
