Prose: How can you even say that…?
Blaze: Because I know you would never do anything to hurt me.
Prose: [whispering] You should go open the bar… I’ll be fine down here.
Blaze: What a selfish thing to say.
Prose: How can you even say that…?
Blaze: Because I know you would never do anything to hurt me.
Prose: [whispering] You should go open the bar… I’ll be fine down here.
Blaze: What a selfish thing to say.
Prose: You shouldn’t come in here. It’s not safe…
Blaze: Don’t be ridiculous. You’re still human, aren’t you?
Prose: But…
Blaze: You know I don’t blame you, don’t you? What happened… it wasn’t your fault.
Blaze: The moon won’t be full until tomorrow. You don’t have to be in there tonight.
Prose: Blaze…
Blaze: You know I hate doing this. Does one more day really hurt?
Prose: I can feel it in my bones… the aching of the wolf calling out to me.
Blaze: Is this necessary?
Prose: Don’t you remember what happened last time you didn’t lock me down here?
Blaze: That was once. It’s not like it will happen every time.
Prose: That’s a risk I’m not willing to take and you know that.

Rebellion runs deep in Blaze’s veins. Like his parents and grandparents before them, he part of the rebellion against the vampires. He believes that no single race should have total control and do whatever he can to restore balance to Millhaven. After a run in with a werewolf left Blaze physically unable to join the fight, he decided to channel all of his energies into The Broadmire–a bar that he runs as a hideaway for those who need protection from The Council of Vampires.

One of Eilif’s closest advisers, Galaxia makes up a third of the current reigning Council of Vampires. Where Eilif is black Galaxia is white. She was appointed for her knowledge of humans and unique powers. She has a rare ability called charmspeaking, where if she gives orders in a certain way the receiver is obliged to follow. However, she will only use this power as a last resort. She believes wholeheartedly that most conflicts can be solved through more diplomatic means.

Shade: If it wasn’t him, who could it possibly be?
Eilif: That I don’t know, but I do know one thing for certain. If there is someone with that kind of power out and about, the rebellion is likely to try to get their hands on them.
Shade: Please don’t say what I think you’re about to say.
Eilif: You should pay our favorite bartender a visit.
Eilif: Would you two clowns stop bickering and just tell me what happened.
Shade: Patrol in the area found three bodies. One was strangled, one with the back of their head bashed in… and the third… It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen. It was like their skin had melted clean off of their bones.
Eilif: That is concerning, but Galaxia’s right. This doesn’t sound like Pantomime. Too messy.
Eilif: I grow tired of your games. Just spit out what you’re trying to say.
Shade: We think it was Raven.
Galaxia: No you think it was him. Pantomime hasn’t been active for almost a century. Why would he act now?
Shade: Who else is capable of killing a man in such a way?
Galaxia: They found a body in Littlewater.
Eilif: In Littlewater? That’s nothing to be concerned about.
Galaxia: There were three of them, actually, but only one raises concerns. It’s not who died… but how.
